Money Maps Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use the Money Maps app and the website moneymaps.net. By using Money Maps, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Money Maps.

1. Who we are

Money Maps is run by MONEY MAPS LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17479270), at Unit 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds IP28 7DE, United Kingdom. Email: info@moneymaps.net.

Our mission is to give consumers clear pricing for currency exchange. The more competitive an exchange is, the better the deal for the customer, and Money Maps helps people see and compare those prices.

2. What Money Maps is

Money Maps is a free guide to bureaux de change and their exchange rates.

  • Rates are indicative. They come from bureaux, automatic feeds for some chains, and contributions from other users. They may be out of date or wrong.
  • Always confirm the rate at the counter before you exchange money.
  • We do not guarantee that any rate, opening time or other detail is accurate, or that a shop or currency is available.
  • We do not exchange money, and we are not part of any deal between you and a bureau.

3. Your account

You can browse without an account. To contribute, you need to sign in. Keep your account secure and tell us if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account at any time (see https://www.moneymaps.net/delete-account).

4. Your contributions

When you add rates, photos, reports or other content:

  • Be accurate. Only add rates and information you have seen yourself.
  • Photos must show the shop or its rate board. Do not include people's faces, car number plates or other personal information.
  • Do not add anything that is false, copied, offensive, unlawful, or that you do not have the right to share.

You keep ownership of what you contribute. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, permanent licence to use, display, copy, edit, adapt and share your contributions in connection with Money Maps. This licence continues after you delete your account, so that rates and shop-front photos can stay useful to others without being linked to you. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle them.

We may check, edit, hide or remove any contribution, and we may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

5. Points and the monthly prize

You can earn points for useful contributions. Each month, the user with the most points can win a prize. The prize is governed by the prize rules at https://www.moneymaps.net/prize-rules. If those rules differ from these terms on anything to do with the prize, the prize rules apply. Points have no cash value.

6. Ads

Money Maps shows ads from Google AdMob. How ads use your data, and how to change your choices, is explained in our Privacy Policy.

7. BUSINESS LISTINGS

This section applies to every bureau de change and exchange business shown on Money Maps, whether or not it has claimed its listing.

  • What we list. We list exchange businesses using publicly available business information, such as the business name, address, location, opening hours and publicly displayed rates. We do this to give consumers clear, comparable pricing.
  • Listings stay while a business trades. A business cannot opt out of Money Maps, or have its listing removed, while it is trading.
  • Removal only after permanent closure. A listing is removed from the map, or marked as closed, only once the business has permanently closed. That happens after we have reviewed a "permanently closed" report with a photo, or once we have otherwise confirmed that the business has permanently closed.
  • Personal names. If a listing names an actual person, for example a sole trader whose own name is used as the business name or shown on the listing, we will remove or anonymise that person's name on request. The business itself, its location, opening hours and prices stay on the map while it trades.
  • Claiming your listing. A business can claim its listing at https://www.moneymaps.net/claim, or by emailing info@moneymaps.net, to correct its details, update its rates and ask for a shop-front photo to be replaced. A claimed business can ask for a photo to be replaced, but not for the listing to be removed.
  • Corrections. If any information about a business is wrong, tell us and we will correct it promptly.
  • No paid ranking today. Claiming a listing does not buy a higher ranking, and there is no paid promotion on Money Maps today. If we introduce paid promotion in future, we will clearly label it (for example "Promoted"), keep it separate from the normal results, and update these terms first.
  • Fair editing. A business must not post false rates or misleading information about another business. Edits a business makes to another shop are checked and labelled, and we may withdraw a business's editing rights if they are misused (see the prize rules).

8. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • post false or misleading rates, reports or photos, including to harm a competitor;
  • harass anyone, or post personal information about other people;
  • try to game the points or the prize;
  • copy or scrape Money Maps data in bulk, or use automated tools to access the service, without our written permission;
  • interfere with the app's security or try to access data that is not yours;
  • use Money Maps for anything unlawful.

9. Our liability

Money Maps is provided free of charge and "as is". We do our best to keep it working and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free or up to date.

  • We are not responsible for any loss caused by relying on a rate or other information without checking it at the counter, or for anything a bureau does.
  • We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses.
  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
  • Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when Money Maps or the law changes. We will change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using Money Maps after a change, the new terms apply.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
