Money Maps monthly prize rules
Every month, the Money Maps user with the most points wins a prize. Here's how it works, in plain English.
The prize
-
Each calendar month (UK time), the user with the most points wins.
-
The prize can change from month to month. This month's prize is shown in the app, and it's the same wherever you live.
-
Money Maps may change the prize amount or the number of winners for future months, for example as more people use the app.
-
We pay prizes by PayPal within 14 days of the end of the month, to the PayPal email address saved in your Money Maps app. Prizes can't be swapped for anything else.
Who can enter
-
You need to be 18 or over and have a Money Maps account.
-
Entry is free. You don't need to buy anything to take part, and buying something won't improve your chances.
How to earn points
-
You earn points by updating shop rates, adding a place that is verified, reporting a shop that is confirmed permanently closed, having a suggested edit approved, and reporting a wrong rate that is confirmed. You also earn points when a friend signs up with your invite code. The app shows how many points each action is worth.
Losing points
-
Every rate shows when it was last updated.
-
You lose 20 points if a rate you added is reported as wrong within 72 hours of being posted, is more than 5% off the correct rate, and Money Maps confirms it. Smaller differences don't cost you anything.
-
If you report a wrong rate and Money Maps confirms it, you earn 10 points.
-
Rates change naturally, so if someone posts a newer rate later, that never costs you points.
-
You lose 5 points if a suggestion you made is rejected.
-
You lose 100 points if you send a fake report that a shop has permanently closed.
-
Your total can never go below zero.
Ties
-
If two or more people finish the month on the same score, the winner is whoever reached that score first.
Fair play
-
Only add real, accurate information that you've seen yourself.
-
Money Maps can remove points from, or disqualify, anyone who adds fake, copied or spam entries, or who tries to game the points.
Business owners
-
If a business owner updates another shop's rates, we check the change before it goes live, and the rate is labelled "Updated by a rival business". Owners don't earn points for editing other shops.
-
If a rate like this is confirmed false, the business that posted it loses its promoted placement and its right to edit other shops.
-
If it happens a second time, that business also loses its Official badge.
Winners
-
We'll contact the winner in the app or by email.
-
If we can't pay the prize because no valid PayPal email is saved, we'll get in touch to sort it out.
The organiser
-
The competition is run by Money Maps Limited (UK).
-
Apple and PayPal are not sponsors of this competition and are not involved with it in any way.
Changes to these rules
-
We may update these rules from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
